ELIGIBILITY
Open to anyone who will be in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade for the 2025/26 school year. Student must have taken at least one year of band at WHS before auditioning for Wind Ensemble.
SELECTION PROCESS
Prepared Audition: Students will be asked to play the following in an audition for a director
Prior experience in program: All aspects of each auditioning student will be considered including, but not limited to: involvement in other ensembles, quality of work in previous ensembles, leadership involvement, maturity, work ethic, and all aspects of involvement with the Westfield Bands to date.
AUDITIONS
Auditions will begin on Monday March 10th and will take place during band classes. Students must submit an audition intent form prior to audition. Form found on Westfield Bands website and in Google Classroom.

Prepared Audition: Students will be asked to play the following in an audition for a director
- 2 major scales – announced at audition. Students should play the number of octaves they are most comfortable playing.
- Chromatic scale – students can choose to play either silver OR gold level chromatic scale for their instrument.
- Prepared etude – Students must perform the prepared etude up to rehearsal #4. Playing beyond rehearsal 4 is encouraged, but not required.
- Sight Reading – level 3 from www.sightreadingfactory.com
