VOLUNTEERING -- Many hands make light work. Please consider volunteering to help out!!
We are in need of a few more chaperones for away band camp. This is a great way to see the band show in process and the responsibilities are simple....to make sure our kids are safe during the overnight hours. Specifically, we need one or two more dad chaperones for Sunday, 8/27 and Monday, 8/28 and a few moms for Monday, 8/28.

The Hospitality Committee is also looking for a few more volunteers. There are several ways to help out on the hospitality committee - you can help provide our students with water during football games and competitions, provide a 3rd quarter snack for home football games, help set-up for our pot-luck dinner, parent social or awards night. BANDS OF AMERICA REGIONAL COMPETITION, DELAWARE, OCTOBER 7 -- We are happy to be competing in this prestigious competition again this year. The $35 per student fee is due Friday, September 8th. Please make payment by check payable to WHS Music. Please note your student's name in the memo section. Drum Majors will collect the checks. If you would like to use money from your child's Charms account, please let Mr. Vitale or Mr. Sindorf know. More details to follow.

AWAY BAND CAMP - Make sure you have the proper items needed to make band camp comfortable for your student. Here is a list of items: large insulated water jug, hat, sunglasses, sneakers, sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, bath towel/wash cloths, sunscreen/bug repellant and warm clothes for the nights. Insiders' nice to have list: twin size fitted sheet, flashlight, snacks and lots of socks.
FORMS - Medical Forms # 1 - 4 due NOW to WHS Health Office. Medication and form #5 are due August 21st to the WHS Health Office. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Vitale or Mr. Sindorf.
FIVE GUYS/CHIPOTLE - Finding time for dinner together can be tough, especially during pre-band camp week! No worries! During these two nights, grab dinner at these delicious establishments. The marching band will benefit from the proceeds!

NEW KILWIN'S - Fundraiser at Kilwin's, 9 Elm St, Westfield on August 24th. Marching Band members - see you there any time after the car wash until 9pm. Tell your friends and family 20% of their sales ALL day are being donated bqack to the band! Click here for the flyer:
CAR WASH - August 24th - A fundraiser the kids look forward to every year. Last year, we made over $600 washing cars! So gather up your family and friends and have them bring their dirty cars over to the high school parking lot from 3:30 to 6:00. Cars are washed for free. Donations to the marching band are gratefully accepted. Flyer follow.
Online Spiritwear Store - The WHS BPA is excited to offer an online store with spiritwear items for band members and their parents and families through Varsity Central. There will be five items available ranging between $20 - $50. Track jacket and compression shirt order forms will be available soon. Heather Bryant will have samples of the sweatshirt and track pants at practices. The online store is live and accepting orders 8/3 - 8/25. Merchandise will be distributed 9/13. Happy Shopping! INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISERS - Looking to put more money in your student's CHARMs account? You can purchase grocery store gift cards from Shop Rite, Stop and Shop, ACME and Kings. For every $100 gift card purchased, $5 goes into the student's account. You can resell the card to friends/family or use it for your everyday shopping. Gift cards can be purchased anytime throughout the year. BOWLING NIGHT - August 26 This annual event is a great time for parents and kids to meet up and bowl a few games. This year, Bowling Night will be held on Saturday, August 26th from 8 - 10 pm at Linden Lanes. For $20, you get pizza, soda, water and continuous bowling including shoe rental. If you want to come but don't want to bowl, you can pay $10 and enjoy pizza, soda and water while seeing friends. This event is a personal favorite of our Band Director, Mr. Vitale! . NEW MB Parent/Student Social - This event is a fun and helpful opportunity for parents of rookies to the marching band. New parents will have the opportunity to have all their questions answered and enjoy some delicious food. New parents - make sure to attend on August 18th from 7 - 9 pm at the Mohr-Ramirez home -733 Summit Avenue.
