Dear Westfield High School Marching Blue Devils,
Shako Day Guidelines for Students
Shako Day is Saturday, September 16th. The rain date is Sunday, September 17th. Assignments were emailed out this past Friday and posted on the trailer. If you have any questions about your assignment please speak with the Drum Majors.
Dress for Shako Day is your show shirt and khakis, either shorts or pants.
Check in with your partner during the week. If you have first shift decide who will pick up the Shako. Shakos will be distributed by the Band Directors after the football game on Friday. Those who have second shift will return the Shakos to the Band Directors the following Monday.
On Shako Day;
Please take a moment to stop inside the business you are assigned to, let them know you are outside and thank the owner or manager for their support. Make sure you do not block the entrance to their business.
The Parent Chaperone assigned to your location will stop by at the beginning of your shift and give you their cell number in case any problems arise. You can also call me at (908) 337-1385 or Jennifer Useloff at 917 359-5960.
Please be courteous but outgoing. Smile and ask people if they would be willing to donate to support the Westfield Band. "Please support Westfield Bands." You need to ask for donations; if you don't ask, they won't give! Collaborate with your partner to find a style that works for the two of you.
We will have stickers available to offer to donors, the stickers identify donors to other teams around town so we don't continually solicit the same people.
At the end of your shift the Parent Chaperone will stop by your location to collect the money. First shift, once the money is collected and you pass the Shako to the second shift, you are free to go. Second Shift, once the Parent Chaperone collects the money, you are free to go.
Thank you for participating in our biggest fundraiser of the year!
